Family Relationship Centre Melbourne City

Melbourne FRC is managed by Relationships Australia Victoria. The Centre is in a central location in Melbourne CBD and is close to public transport. It provides information, advice, referral services and family relationships services including family dispute resolution for families experiencing separation. All services are provided in a safe and secure environment. The Centre also provides access to a variety of resources, including Internet access, books, brochures and information on a variety of topics and services.
The services available at Melbourne FRC include:
  • Information, advice & referrals
  • Family Dispute Resolution
  • Group information sessions & workshops
  • Post-separation parenting programs

The two post-separation parenting programs run through Melbourne FRC are the Parenting After Separation series and the Building Connections program which run at various times throughout the year. We also run Respectful Relationships programs in schools. Please contact the Centre for upcoming programs.
Our centre’s aim is to provide a service model that allows parents to reach easy, simple and efficient agreements which are in the best interests of children whilst at the same time protecting children and vulnerable adults from risk of harm. We do that by working in partnership with a range of services including legal services.
Melbourne FRC is committed to providing an inclusive service for all families. We acknowledge and respect the wide-ranging needs, backgrounds and diversity of families in our community. Anyone can contact the FRC for information, advice and referrals. We can offer family dispute resolution services to anyone involved in caring for a child, including grandparents, step-parents, same-sex and gender diverse parents and other significant people in a child’s life.
Staff at Melbourne FRC include: a Centre Manager, client service officers, family dispute resolution practitioners, specialist child-inclusive practitioners and a community liaison officer. The Centre has one dedicated Community Liaison Officers who engages with Indigenous, refugee and migrant communities in the inner-city suburbs.

We have a strong emphasis on child development within the context of separation. Family relationships play a very important part in a child’s development and wellbeing but sometimes those relationships break down and that is when families need extra help and support from agencies such as ours, especially children, who can often be caught up in the centre of disputes.
