Our Background
The Bankstown Family Relationship Centre (FRC) is operated and managed by CatholicCare Sydney, who has been providing services to parents and families in the Bankstown area for over 20 years.
Location
Conveniently located near to Centro Bankstown, the Bankstown FRC is very close to both rail and bus public transport, and there is on-street or retail centre parking a short walk from our front door. Disabled access is provided.
Centre Information
The Bankstown FRC is a brand-new, spacious and sensitively designed facility, where parents and families are welcomed and made to feel as much “at home“ as possible. There are well-equipped research and reading spaces at the front of the Centre together with a refreshment counter, and internally, meeting rooms are not only bright and very comfortable but are structured to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
Service Outline And Approach
When clients visit the Bankstown FRC or ‘phone, our interest is to quickly ascertain how we may assist and to determine how best we may provide an appropriate service or services. In most circumstances, clients will be invited for an appointment with a Family Liaison Officer, during which our aim is to fully understand the relationship or family matter/s which the client is wishing to discuss. At all times, we will treat clients respectfully and with understanding in circumstances which may be very difficult or distressing. Attached is a document entitled “Client Service Procedure”, which provides more details about the processes in our FRC.
Focus On Children
It is expected that many of our clients will approach us with issues in relation to children or parenting. In those cases, we will keep the best interests of children as the paramount consideration. Parents entering into Family Dispute Resolution at our Centre will have the opportunity to view a short DVD entitled “Keeping Kids in Mind”, a summary of which is attached to this web page.
Language Assistance
In our Centre, we have staff fluent in Arabic, Cantonese and Mandarin. Also, we have ready access to an interpreter service where interpreters can be available by telephone or face-to-face.
