Northern Beaches Family Relationship Centre

Northern Beaches FRC

Who we are

The Northern Beaches Family Relationship Centre (FRC) is managed by Relationships Australia and services the Manly, Warringah and Pittwater Local Government areas.

Issues that you might want to discuss

FRCs have been established to support people with any matters relating to strengthening relationships, helping families stay together and assisting families through separation. Ensuring people’s safety is a priority in all the work we do.

About the Centre

When you call or drop in our staff will provide you with information and arrange a time for you to speak with a Family Advisor. The Family Advisor will talk with you about your situation and once they understand your family’s needs, will work with you to plan the next step forward. If your family is separated often this will involve inviting your ex-partner to attend a similar session. Then, each parent, separately, will attend a Kids in Focus seminar which focuses on how separation and conflict affect children. This seminar must be attended before proceeding to Family Dispute Resolution.

Following the meeting with a family advisor and attendance of the Kids in Focus Seminar separated families may be referred on to our Family Dispute Resolution service where practitioners work with parents separately and together to facilitate ‘child focussed’ discussions about issues/disputes and assist separated parents develop parenting plans.

Other services

We work closely with, and refer to, many other local community and government organisations providing services including counselling, legal advice, migrant and family support services, as well as groups such as ‘Managing Anger’, ‘Step Families’ and ‘Building Better Relationships’.

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Services

The centre has access to interpreters and has bilingual staff members who can speak Armenian and very basic Spanish.

Cost

Services are offered free including the first three hours of joint Family Dispute Resolution, after which fees may be charged on a sliding scale depending on income. Please contact us for more information.
