Launceston Family Relationship Centre

The Launceston Family Relationship Centre is located at 123 York Street Launceston, close to public transport, shops and child care facilities. Ample parking is available a few doors down at the Council Car Park (located behind the 7LA building on York Street).

The Centre is very light, open and family friendly. A children's play area is onsite, featuring a partially screened window for parents to be able to see their child (and vice versa) while meeting with Centre staff. This area can be booked in the event that alternative arrangements are unable to be made on the day of an individual appointment at the Centre.

The Centre is accessible to residents throughout the 63 and 64 areas of Tasmania through a range of facilities including telephone hook ups and video conferencing. Appointments can be made through our Outreach program that travels regularly to Zeehan, Burnie and Devonport.

The principal forms of support we offer include:

the provision of quality up-to-date information about services available for families in northern, north-west and western Tasmania, as well as access to printed, DVD based and electronic information
assisted referrals to other service providers
individual consultations to assess the needs of clients
joint dispute resolution services
assistance in developing workable arrangements for children (including parenting plans)
community education, from locations where parents are most likely to gather - for example schools, child care centres
participation in community expos and forums
regular liaison with legal and other professional practitioners

We aim to assist parents and other carers to become child focused when making plans for their families. We also aim for people who have contact with the Centre to have a positive experience and to receive support that is useful, useable and user friendly.
