Ringwood Family Relationship Centre

The Ringwood Family Relationship Centre has been operating since July 2006 and is managed by Eastern Access Community Health who is the lead organisation in a consortium with other partner services.

Eastern Access Community Health (EACH) delivers a range of community health services within a social model of health that improve the physical, mental and social well-being of individuals, families and communities in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

The Centre is currently located at an interim site at 68 Charter Street and we are currently planning a purpose built facility to be located at Bond Street Ringwood, the new site is expected to be operational in late 2008. The interim site is situated near Eastland Shopping Centre and the Ringwood Train Station as well as services such as Victoria Legal Aid, Family Assistance Office and Centrelink.

The Centre Manager is Marilyn Collins who is assisted by a team of admin/ reception staff, intake assessment worker, family relationship advisors, family dispute resolution practitioners as well as a community development worker.

The Centre offers a gateway to a wide range of services in the community and draws heavily on the broad range of services offered. Individual, joint and group sessions are offered to help separating families make workable arrangements for the care of their children. Clients will be provided with information about not-for-profit services, government agencies, voluntary or private organisations and individual practitioners that operate in their community as well as providing client access to a wide range of resources through our community library including access to Internet and phone.

A key aspect of the Centre’s work is the provision of free joint sessions assisting parents to reach parenting arrangements that meet the needs of their family specifically focusing on their children’s needs. In line with this, the Centre offers a group “Children in Focus” session on a weekly basis (every Thursday and every second Friday) in which clients are strongly encouraged to attend.

RFRC also runs a monthly Information Sessions every third Tuesday of the month.  These are specifically designed to inform local service providers and any interested parties about the Ringwood Family Relationship Centre and how it runs. These sessions can also be conducted at external outlets to assist service providers to understand the services available in the community.

The Centre is also supported by community education programs and a range of innovative and practical early intervention services. These services include Parent-Child Therapy, Girls with Attitude, Grief and Loss Workshops, Grandparents Group, Parents Resolving Conflict, Renovation Your Relationship, Fathering After Separation and Indigenous Women’s Network.
