For Children
There are lots of different sorts of families and two important things about all of them are:
- that children need to grow up with love and support
- that children should be able to feel safe.
Most kids say the best thing is if they can have a good time with both of their parents, no matter who they live with. Of course this isn't possible for everyone but maybe you could talk to your parents about what you'd like.
If mum and dad separate
Some parents find they can't live together any more and they may split up. It can be pretty tough on children when this happens. You might worry about why they've split up - but it's not your fault.
How to get help
You might worry about where you're going to live and how upset and confused everyone is - that's normal when such a big change is happening.
You can get help if you want to talk to someone and your parents can also get lots of help to sort things out if that's what they want.
